We recommend starting a series some time between 21-34 weeks gestation so that your last class is around 37 weeks. Please get in touch if you are further along than that and we will help you find the best class!

Childbirth Education

This comprehensive series is a must for expectant families, whether planning to give birth at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center. Over the course of six engaging classes, we equip parents with practical insights into crucial topics like labor stages, natural childbirth, coping strategies, and partner support. But it doesn't stop there; we go a step further by seamlessly integrating holistic techniques to address anxiety, stress, and foster stronger relationships, all designed to bolster your confidence as you embark on your journey as new parents.

Led by a seasoned nurse midwife and childbirth educator, our aim is to educate families on the spectrum of childbirth experiences, from the ordinary to the extraordinary. We empower you to make informed decisions within a hospital setting and prepare you holistically for the transition to life with your precious newborn.

*Classes are held every Wednesday for 6 weeks from 6-8pm.

*Classes 5 & 6 may be purchased separately for $65/couple per class.

* We offer a Quick Class as well which is perfect for people who have already given birth and just need a refresher! Please get in touch for details $190/couple.

Class 1
Final Weeks of Pregnancy

Nutrition, activity/exercise, pelvic floor health, getting baby in a good position, signs of labor & emotional changes, dealing with fears, stress and anxiety in pregnancy, transitioning to parenthood.

Class 2
What to Expect in Labor

Stages of labor, watch birth video, hormones of birth, coping skills in labor, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, tips to keep birth uncomplicated.

Class 3
Variations of Normal Birth

Natural pain relief, positions for labor & birth, medications in birth, informed consent, letting go of expectations, birth plan, avoiding the ‘cascade of interventions’.

Class 4
Baby is Born!

Transition phase & effective pushing, birth of the placenta, immediate newborn procedures, packing your hospital bag postpartum resources.

Class 5
Postpartum Recovery

Planning and caring for your body in the immediate postpartum, home remedies for perineal healing and navigating life with your newborn

Class 6
Breast/Chestfeeding

Breast/chestfeeding hands on techniques, the first hours and first 6 weeks of feeding baby. getting a good ‘latch’,

This interactive online course covers essential information about preparing for, and recovering from cesarean birth, it highlights ways partners can help during the process. Postpartum Recovery – This interactive online course covers essential information for the first two weeks after birth, including taking care of yourself, caring for your newborn, and feeding your baby. It also highlights important warning signs so you know when to call for help. Allow about 2 hours to complete.

This interactive online course covers essential information for the first six weeks and beyond, including clear video examples of bathing, feeding and diapering, and lets you know when to call the doctor. You will also stay organized with a variety of helpful checklists and trackers! Allow 2-3 hours to complete.

Newborn Care Class

This class is designed for you to learn about the first three months with a newborn. Whether this is your first baby or it's been awhile, this course will help you to feel prepared to care for your new baby!

This class covers:

Parents self care during this special time

Participants are offered hands-on practice experience that is invaluable in preparing for life with a newborn.

Newborn Care Class

Tip:

Great for childcare providers, babysitters, grandparents, current and expectant parents and teachers.

*Private classes available: $75/hr, typically a 3 hr class. Ask us about group rates if your extended family would like to attend a class.

Infant CPR & Choking

This class is taught by certified CPR Instructor, Steve Bond who teaches this engaging class on Infant CPR (under 12 months) and Child CPR (ages 1 to 8 years). In addition to CPR instruction he also teaches choking safety and how to respond in a choking situation. He covers general safety concerns related to infants and children and gives resources and materials to help parents respond in an emergency. This is not a certification course.
